Ubuntu is backed by Canonical Ltd. who employ a team of Open Source developers to develop and support the distribution on a full-time basis. Canonical also provide escalation support to Ingenious and other front-line supporters of the Ubuntu distribution.
It has quickly become the most popular Linux distribution, which will mean that customers will have little problem finding alternative organisations to provide support should the need arise.
