Freedom

Wherever possible we release our own work under the GNU Public License. This means in essence that we make our source code freely available.  If you want to you can hire other programmers/designers without any arguments about intellectual property rights from us.  This means we're kept 'on our toes'.

This may not be something we have to do, however it aligns with our own views regarding the importance of this sort of freedom.  It also comes from our own experiences on the customer side of the table, where being reliant upon one software company has meant being dictated to in ways we did not want (for example: "You must upgrade in order to have continued support").
